SHEeo Staff Picks: Phone Apps

Time to download!

We here at SHEeo love sharing things we currently enjoy with each other. So we've decided to extend it to our fellow SHEeos! For this month, we're introducing our staff picks. A series where we just talk about what's been floating our boat at the moment.

For our first entry, we're looking at apps! Admittedly, we've all been using our phones a lot too— not just for work but also for recreational activities. We've all been trying our hand at different things this quarantine so whether you're into photo editing, fitness, or trying to learn a new skill, these apps might pique your interest.

With that said, here are some apps you can find in our phones. Check them out:

"Rave is like a Netfix party for mobile. You can watch shows and movies or YouTube videos with your friends and family. My fiancé and I love watching together pre-LDR  (he's been in LA since 2018) so we usually just play the video/movie at the same time just so we can talk about what's happening while watching. So imagine how happy we were when we discovered Rave (and Netflix Party)!" - Modesty Eugenio, Head of Social

"Headspace is your guide to everyday mindfulness in just a few minutes a day. With all that's been happening in our world it's easy to absorb negative energy and succumb to stress. I've wanted to try a meditating app that can help me stay calm and have a positive disposition in these trying times. Headspace does exactly that for me. It clears my mind and aids in segregating my thoughts so that I could think more rationally and act more mindful. What's great is that it has a lot of different options for different kinds of meditation (e.g. lessen stress, improve focus, increase motivation, etc.) You should definitely check it out! It's available on Google Play and App store." - Alyansa Nebreja, Graphic Artist

"I actually don't use any mental or emotional health apps. I try to keep myself centered just through yoga and breaks from screens. But when I feel like I'm in a bit of a rut and I have my phone with me, I open up Pinterest and just go through all boards I like (or just on the home page) It's not like I'm looking for things to shop for, but more like a mental mood board for ideas in fashion and interiors." - Cami Alviz, Club Manager

"The best app for practicing yoga at home! I’ve tried so many apps and tried just watching youtube videos but this app is the one that really worked for me. I’ve become more flexible and in tune with my body and my mind thanks to Downdog. Most importantly, It’s been helping me foster and care for my mental wellbeing during these turbulent times. The monthly subscription fee is worth every peso (and cheaper than the membership fee at the yoga studio I used to go to!) - Theola Destula, SHEeo Digest Editor

"I've been wanting to learn a couple of French phrases and brush up on my Chinese for the longest time but I've been too stubborn to even start. But this quarantine, I decided to finally do it (if only to keep my brain cells alive). So, I'm so thankful that I found Memrise! I'd say it's a pretty tool to test the waters if you want to learn or re-learn a language. The app is user-friendly and the content is not at all overwhelming. There're a lot of languages available too and the games make it easier to learn." - Chin Ann Obiedo, Content Writer

“Knowledge is one of the many superpowers of a SHEeo. One of the traditional way of gaining them is through readying books. Blinkist transforms self-help, business, and lifestyle books into key takeaways. Imagine with just 15 minutes of your everyday, say when you’re doing your make-up, play some Blinks and you can go ahead with your day with so much insights and inspirations.”
