These will inspire you to give a compliment today!
In a time where physical contact is limited and social gatherings feel like a myth from eons ago, it's hard to imagine that we were all once social and relational beings. These days, we crave the companionship of our friends and family, and even that exhilarating, nervous feeling we get when meeting new people. But what we do have right now, are the memories we've shared with the people we have in our lives. Although, some memories do tend to stick out a little more than the others. Genuine compliments, for example, are things we tend to remember—words of encouragement or a simple affirmation from someone else that instantly make us smile, bring back the spring in our steps, or just simply put us in a better mood. They're very handy weapons to combat the occasional blues for sure. But what's more is that it helps us view ourselves from a whole different perspective, a perspective that might surprise us completely in the best way possible.
So we asked our SHEeos what compliment really stuck with them and how it made them feel. Scroll below to see their heartwarming answers:
" 'Choose Par Vous Designs. You won't regret it.' It reassured me of my calling in this world, which is to help people and businesses through design solutions, despite all the challenges." - Ina Estrada SHEeo of Par Vous Designs
" 'You inspire me!' It made me feel like I was able to touch someone's life. That my own life had purpose." - Carol Premacio SHEeo of Love, Carol Joanne
“ 'You’re an empire on your own.' It’s amazing to me that someone perceives me that way! I know my struggles all too well so sometimes I forget that I’m a force to be reckoned with." - Theola Destura SHEeo of Gugma Artisan
“ 'You’re such an inspiration to many. I hope you know that.' Made me feel 🥺✨ Been dealing with lots of anxieties and self-doubt so it was a surprise that people find me inspiring." - Tiarra Ondevilla De Soto SHEeo of 180 Management Consulting
“ 'I’m so lucky to be loved by you.' I was told this by my boyfriend and close circle of friends on the same day! It made me go easier on myself because there have been times when I’ve constantly tried to show my love in very obvious ways, when in fact those that matter the most to me just really want my presence more than any gift or material things. - Lia Nuñez SHEeo of Atelier Lia Nuñez
" 'You're such a blessing. We need more people like you.' It's amazing how one post, reshare, or response can make an impact on someone else's life. I encountered this a lot when people felt hopeless, discouraged, and frustrated during the first few days of the lockdown. I led a PPE fundraiser to help frontliners. It gave them a reason to believe again, that light can shine in the darkness." - Lerrize Dizon SHEeo of Pyur Tea
" 'I aspire to have the peace of mind and heart that you have.' There were demons I had to face alone and battles I've opted not to share. After rising above it all, when people started asking me how I overcame those curveballs, I responded with the clearest mind and perspective. It made me feel like—without giving away so much details about what happened—it’s my purpose to share what it taught me. Because people hide when they’re at their darkest and sometimes they need someone to help them see the light." - Keizelle Canaria SHEeo of Pensée Gifting Studio, 𝐃𝐄𝐓𝐀𝐋𝐘𝐄 by Pensée, Her Muse
“ 'You are an inspiration to all of us. Thank you for your genuine concern and unending generosity!' It truly inspired me to do better every day and to continue to touch other people’s lives even with the smallest actions."- Bea Gonzales SHEeo of Habitat Fitness
"The best compliment that I’ve ever gotten would be before the lockdown when I was going through a rough day at school and I wasn’t feeling very good about myself. While I was in a grocery store, a lady came up to me out of the blue and says, 'You look very beautiful today,' then complimented my outfit too. It made me feel really good and warm. I love it when women randomly compliment each other on the street like a 'nice bag', 'I like your hair' or 'I like your outfit'. It's really sweet and genuine because instead of comparing, you compliment one another. #womenempowerment" - Naomi Ng SHEeo of Naomi Ng Designs
"A colleague of mine once told me and a bunch of other people, 'Wyn was such a good team leader to me. I knew I wasn’t doing good but she was so helpful and patient. She mentored me until I, too, was able to help others.' It made me feel great because I never would have thought the things I did to help her would have that much of an impact. Now, she’s the leader of her own team." - Wynonah Duban SHEeo of Lab Lacquer
